Job Description • American Express is hiring a Software Engineer I to contribute to the development and maintenance of enterprise technology platforms. The role involves building software solutions, supporting cloud-based applications, working with modern development practices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment. Candidates will also participate in testing, debugging, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives while expanding their technical expertise. Roles and Responsibilities • Develop, test, and maintain software applications under the guidance of experienced engineers. • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog discussions, and user story analysis. • Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code following engineering standards. • Build and support RESTful APIs, microservices, and application components. • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and assist in resolving software defects. • Collaborate with product managers, QA teams, and software engineers to deliver business requirements. • Support automation initiatives for testing, deployment, and operational processes. • Investigate and troubleshoot application issues while implementing effective solutions. • Learn and adopt new technologies, frameworks, and engineering practices. • Prepare technical documentation and contribute to knowledge-sharing activities. • Assist with cloud-based application development and data processing solutions. • Support continuous improvement of software quality and development efficiency. Eligibility Criteria • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, or a related discipline. • Minimum 0.5 years of software development experience. • Good understanding of programming fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. • Familiarity with Agile development practices and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). • Basic knowledge of cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or Azure. • Understanding of ETL concepts, SQL programming, and data processing techniques. • Knowledge of Git, CI/CD tools, and build automation technologies. • Basic understanding of REST APIs, web technologies, and Linux/Unix environments. • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work effectively within collaborative development teams. • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies.
